Are the shots such as a straight drive, a cross-court, and a drop shot. The drop is a basic shot and it’s a straight line down to the back wall either on the back end or whore inside of the core on the forehand side.

From the forehand side, you have your left leg in front of your right leg with both legs about shoulder width apart. When you swing the momentum will cut onto your left leg, therefore, your stance will be stable and you won’t fall and your body should be facing the side wall. The swing starts with your racket up so that the grip is around ear level in order to generate power in the shot.

Like all racket sports, tennis is all about placing the ball over the net on different areas of a court with variations of speed and spin. For beginner and recreational players, it is worthwhile to know the basic shots in tennis, which will guide them to become good tennis players.

The importance of the basic shots in tennis varies from surface to surface. Like, in a grass court, where the low bounce and high speed are predominant, a good serve and volley player starts a match with a certain edge over the other. The great legend, Roger Federer is an ideal example who holds the record of winning the Wimbledon Singles title eight times. On the other hand, on a slow, bouncy surface like a clay court, we often see longer rallies with players top spinning the ball one after another and also the effective use of drop shots.

How to Be a Good Table Tennis Player

Step 1 (Approx. 2 Years)

  • Plan early, an ideal age to look forward is 5 – 6 years.
  • Get admitted to a good table tennis academy. (RSP recommended)
  • Develop the basic skills in table tennis. This is the most important phase for a beginner to equip with the right kind of techniques from where he/ she can step forward to the advanced skills of table tennis.
  • Practice for 2 – 3 hours on a daily basis.

Clear is a defensive stroke in Badminton and is played from backcourt to backcourt. When you are not in your base position, you need time to gain your position. A clear shot gives you that extra time. The swing of your racket will be upward as well as forward. You have to hit the shuttle high in the air so that the shuttlecock floats in the air before dropping inside of your opponent’s baseline. The higher the trajectory of the birdie, the more defensive the clear shot is.
